Aurora Andina has supported 2 institutions for 8 consecutive years. One of them is part of a chain of not-for-profit organizations that provide health rehabilitation and assistance for children with functional diversity. Internships are available in this clinic.
In these medical projects the volunteers develop different tasks depending on their academic level (medical school students, health professionals, or prospective medical school students). They are assigned to the areas of: doctor’s office, administration, rehabilitation, or taking care of children with functional diversity.
Functions and activities for the volunteer:
- Provide support and care to the children with functional diversity.
- Help feeding the children and play with them.
- Work with the physical therapist and psychologist.
- Support in the medical treatments.
- Support the specialized medical doctor in the office (medical school students).
DETAILS
It is in one institution dedicated to health care service, with capacity of diagnosis and resolving in clinical treatment, surgical and rehabilitation.
There are two areas for these volunteer service:
Volunteer service as medical school student or professional. In this volunteer service, the volunteers help medical doctors and nurses in the caring for patients, help in therapy of children with physical disabilities who are hosted in the hospital.
Vocational volunteer service. In this volunteer service, the volunteers take care of the children with physical disabilities or help in the administration and procedures.
The minimum time of volunteer service is 04 weeks. There two schedules of volunteer service:
From 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
From 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
